Domain Invest Ltd puts a halt to auction site plans to sell company’s own portfolio

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Following the flop of the Budapest BAC live auction and after failing to move the auction online, the London-based Domain Invest Ltd announced a change in its plans for GamblingInvest.com. which effective immediately will concentrate on the development of a marketplace to sell domains Domain Invest Ltd controls directly or in partnership with others.

As usual with a premiere, it’s not until the end of the first performance that you can really start to sense what works and what is wrong,” said GamblingInvest.com’s founder Pierluigi Buccioli referring to the Budapest auction.

Having said that, I take the full responsability for deciding to go ahead with the live auction despite a week before the event I started to suspect that buyer participation was not going to be anywhere close to sellers interest, but then I still hoped that industry people at the conference (the famous end-users) would have supported the rather unique event.”

Now it would be easy to make a list of things that didn’t go as planned during the two days event, but considering that all complaints from potential buyers claimed that the reserve prices were too high and that around 50% of the domain owners that a week before Budapest seemed enthusiast in supporting an auction site dedicated to gambling domains, didn’t agree to move the auction online or ignored my request altogether, I realized that to keep things going, GamblingInvest.com needed immediately some major changes.”

Buccioli concluded: “I still believe a dedicated (and successful) domain auction site would be beneficial to the entire igaming sector and GamblingInvest.com will definitely give another go at the live auction business at some point, but right now and for the time being we will concentrate our efforts in trying to create an active gambling domains marketplace and the most suitable way to succeed in doing so is by putting for sale our own portfolio at competitive prices.”

The full list of gambling domains available for sale will published starting next week. For more information see www.gamblinginvest.com.
