GamblingInvest.com's Live Auction at the Budapest Affiliate Conference: a Total Flop

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

GamblingInvest.com’s first live auction at the Budapest Affiliate Conference didn’t go as planned. I will personally write more about it in the coming days as I know that if I was to write now I would probably talk of who/what is to blame while to make even a negative experience useful for the future is to identify what went wrong but then concentrate in explaining what will be done different the next time.

The most immediate (and logical) action is to try to do the auction online (using the 7-days format), mostly because I believe in the domains listed in the catalog and I think it’s my responsability to try to sell them even though what I initially thought could be the perfect set-up (the live auction in Budapest) turned out to be totally wrong.

With this I’m not saying gambling domains auctions should not be done live, but simply that I know now they cannot be held live just at every gambling conference, because not all events have the right people attending them. And by right people I don’t mean cool people, but people who understand how the domain aftermarket works as well as people who within a company can make a decision whether to buy a new important domain.
