The online auction of 2300 gambling domains, including picks.us, bettingexchange.us, igaming.us, asianbookmakers.com, soccerbookmakers.com, tennispicks.com, worldcuppicks.com, totobet.com, londonbet.com and p2pbet.com, started on Wednesday 26 January.

“The selection of domain names available should appeal to igaming operators and affiliates alike as domains represent a good investment and many of the names available for sale in the auction are perfect to be developed into web properties,” commented GamblingInvest.com founder, Pierluigi Buccioli.

“Participants turnover has so far been lower than we expected, so registered bidders should be able to snatch domains at very good prices,” added Buccioli.

From January 25 to January 30 the igaming industry gathered in London to attend the ICE Totally Gaming and the London Affiliate Conference.

“It may well be that last week igaming operators were busy attending the London events. Hopefully they are now back in the office and have fully recovered from a week of parties in London, ready to join the bidding,” concluded Buccioli.

If you are interested to participate in GamblingInvest.com’s Gambling Domains London auction, you can find the full catalogue and register for bidding at proxibid.com/gamblinginvest

The auction ends on February 2, 2011, at 8PM (UK time).

Gambling Invest announced over a month ago the upcoming sale of over 2000 gambling domains. Since then, New Jersey passed, with a large majority vote in both houses, a legislation for online gambling.

With several other US states considering regulating gambling on the Internet, industry insiders believe that if Governor Christie puts his signature on New Jersey igaming legislation, not only New Jersey will become the first US state with online gambling, but its igaming regulation could be the much needed push for the entire USA to change their attitude towards online gambling.

Gambling Invest is offering for sale, in an online auction starting Wednesday 26 January, a good selection of premium .us gambling domains such as igaming.us, picks.us, bettingexchange.us, financialbetting.us and many more.

“US facing domains are just a part of the great selection of gambling names offered for sale by Gambling Invest,” said Pierluigi Buccioli, founder of the domains auction house. “The auction includes also brandable domains like Totobet.com, Londonbet.com and P2Pbet.com as well as many names at bargain prices with lots of potential for development.”

“While domain auctions are generally created for domain investors, the gambling names offered in the Gambling Invest online sale have a real appeal for gambling operators and affiliates alike,” added Buccioli.

“Keyword domains always represent a good investment because they provide an actual advantage in search engine marketing, but gambling keyword names are also easy to monetize and if developed into a site, a gambling domain can provide a very good return on investment,” he concluded.

GamblingInvest.com’s Gambling Domains London auction starts January 26 at 8PM (UK time) and ends February 2 at 8PM (UK time). The full auction catalogue is available at http://www.proxibid.com/asp/Catalog.asp?aid=35497

All interested bidders need to register at Proxibid in order to participate to the auction.

Gambling Invest to offer for sale over 2000 gambling domains

The gambling domains specialist announced that it will host an online auction featuring over 2000 domains, covering all the key sectors of the gambling industry from sports betting to racing, to casino and poker. These will include bettingexchange.us, igaming.us, picks.us, bookmakers.mobi, jackpotnews.com and tennispicks.com.

“Domain names in general and gambling domains in particular are an excellent investment,” said Pierluigi Buccioli, founder of Gambling Invest and online gambling super-affiliate.

“Demand and prices for gambling domains have continued to go up in the last two years despite the economic crisis and recession, confirming that domains can be used to capture qualified Internet traffic and to establish a company’s identity online. But they are also an excellent investment for buyers that are prepared to hold onto them for few years as well as for operators who develop domain names into web properties.”

“And with the United States considering the introduction of online gambling regulations and several other countries opening their online gambling markets to international competition, it is safe to say that 2011 will be another record year for gambling domains.”

The portfolio of gambling domains offered for sale by Gambling Invest includes lots of domain names that igaming affiliates can develop into gambling portals as well as a good selection of names perfect for operators looking to establish an internet presence or internet startups looking to launch a new brand.

The domains will be up for auction through the Proxibid platform between January 26 and February 2, 2011.

Gambling Invest will make more details of the auction available in the coming weeks.

The category killer gambling domain Slots.com is still up for sale after failing to meet its reserve price in the auction held at Moniker SnapNames. The auction ended today with 3 interested parties placing bids on the name and a highest bid of $4,500,000. By all reports, the owner of Slots.com had hope the sale would bring in a minimum of $6m, but will be disappointed that even with all the coverage in the gambling industry and a domains powerhouse managing the auction Slots.com didn’t reach the asking price.

There was a lot of interest around Slots.com when the auction was first announced at the GPWA forum, then cancelled, eventually ending up at SnapNames. At this point, the owner has not said if a second auction will be held or if negotations will take place with the highest bidder. But $4.5 million is certainly a price worth considering. At that price, if confirmed, the sale would top the 2010 sales chart at DN Journal, knocking off Photo.com recently sold by Moniker for $1,250,000. Had the name sold for $6m, it would have been a bigger sale than casino.com, which sold for $5.5m, placing Slots.com in the top 10 of reported domain sales of all-time.

While the high bid of $4.5 million suggests there is definite interest, gambling webmasters and domainers in particular have been skeptical at the owner’s target price.
And the lukewarm response to the Slots.com auction indicates the seller needs to be more flexible to tempt the right buyers.

Whatever the outcome of the Slots.com auction, the domain market certainly doesn’t need a rally to show its worth. Nearly 30 of 2010′s top domain sales have been for six-figure dollar amounts and at least 12 gambling domain sales have been reached five figures or more.

UPDATE: The Epik Blog reported last night that Slots.com eventually sold for $5.5 million possibly to one of the big online gambling casino providers.

Following the flop of the Budapest BAC live auction and after failing to move the auction online, the London-based Domain Invest Ltd announced a change in its plans for GamblingInvest.com. which effective immediately will concentrate on the development of a marketplace to sell domains Domain Invest Ltd controls directly or in partnership with others.

“As usual with a premiere, it’s not until the end of the first performance that you can really start to sense what works and what is wrong,” said GamblingInvest.com’s founder Pierluigi Buccioli referring to the Budapest auction.

“Having said that, I take the full responsability for deciding to go ahead with the live auction despite a week before the event I started to suspect that buyer participation was not going to be anywhere close to sellers interest, but then I still hoped that industry people at the conference (the famous end-users) would have supported the rather unique event.”

“Now it would be easy to make a list of things that didn’t go as planned during the two days event, but considering that all complaints from potential buyers claimed that the reserve prices were too high and that around 50% of the domain owners that a week before Budapest seemed enthusiast in supporting an auction site dedicated to gambling domains, didn’t agree to move the auction online or ignored my request altogether, I realized that to keep things going, GamblingInvest.com needed immediately some major changes.”

Buccioli concluded: “I still believe a dedicated (and successful) domain auction site would be beneficial to the entire igaming sector and GamblingInvest.com will definitely give another go at the live auction business at some point, but right now and for the time being we will concentrate our efforts in trying to create an active gambling domains marketplace and the most suitable way to succeed in doing so is by putting for sale our own portfolio at competitive prices.”

The full list of gambling domains available for sale will published starting next week. For more information see www.gamblinginvest.com.

GamblingInvest.com’s first live auction at the Budapest Affiliate Conference didn’t go as planned. I will personally write more about it in the coming days as I know that if I was to write now I would probably talk of who/what is to blame while to make even a negative experience useful for the future is to identify what went wrong but then concentrate in explaining what will be done different the next time.

The most immediate (and logical) action is to try to do the auction online (using the 7-days format), mostly because I believe in the domains listed in the catalog and I think it’s my responsability to try to sell them even though what I initially thought could be the perfect set-up (the live auction in Budapest) turned out to be totally wrong.

With this I’m not saying gambling domains auctions should not be done live, but simply that I know now they cannot be held live just at every gambling conference, because not all events have the right people attending them. And by right people I don’t mean cool people, but people who understand how the domain aftermarket works as well as people who within a company can make a decision whether to buy a new important domain.

The live auction will take place in two sessions on Friday September 11 and Saturday September 12 at the Budapest Affiliate Conference.

About GamblingInvest.com
Recently founded by serial web entrepreneur Pierluigi Buccioli, with a London January 2010 live auction already in the works and plans for a series of themed auctions to be held online, GamblingInvest.com is looking to establish itself as the marketplace where buyers and sellers of gambling-related domains come together.

Pierluigi Buccioli, founder of BookmakersReview.com and CEO at Domain Invest Ltd, fills void in online gambling sector.

Having searched the internet for a gambling domains auction site and coming up empty handed, Pierluigi Buccioli, founder of BookmakersReview.com and now CEO at Domain Invest Ltd, launched GamblingInvest.com. The site provides a marketplace bringing together buyers and sellers of gambling related domain names. The grand opening will feature a live auction at the upcoming Budapest Affiliate Conference on September 12, 2009.

“I’m confident I’ll put together at least 200 premium gambling domains for our first live auction event at Budapest BAC,” said company founder Pierluigi Buccioli.

“But I actually look at the Budapest Affiliate Conference as a trial baloon in anticipation of an even bigger live auction event at the London Affiliate Conference in January 2010,” Mr. Buccioli added.

“And I expect the Gambling Invest live auction to become a recurring event at the affiliate conferences that bring together gambling webmasters and all type of companies involved in the gambling sector,” he concluded.

Owners of gambling domains can submit their names for consideration to be included in the live auction catalogue by contacting Mr. Buccioli directly at sales@gamblinginvest.com

Interested buyers are invited to participate at the auction in person, but for those unable to attend the live event it will still be possible to place bids online or by telephone as well as leave absentee bids with the auctioneer.

All sales will be handled through the Moneybookers Escrow service thereby guaranteeing security for both sellers and buyers.

The auction catalogue will be published at the beginning of September. For more information about the auction or selling your domains, please visit
www.gamblinginvest.com.
